You can't just dismiss whatever you don't understand as God's plan. Well, you can and obviously do. But you shouldn't. Because that means you never come to understand anything. Or is that the point? Faith in God means you get to stay ignorant?

Your original comment: "I think asking any one to justify the actions of God is silly. God can do as he pleases and sees fit. He has a plan and a purpose for everyone even though we may not see it." And, for the record, let's look again at my comment, to which you replied the first quote above: "You can't just dismiss whatever you don't understand as God's plan....Because that means you never come to understand anything." If God does what he pleases, and we can't see his plan and purpose, then doesn't that mean the person who believes such a thing can dismiss anything at all as being part of that plan? Because it's silly to question God's actions? While not word for word, my understanding of what you wrote certainly "comes close" to what you said. Feel free to correct my understanding, unless my understanding is part of God's plan, and so is silly to question it. After all, isn't everything part of God's plan?

@michaelbard420 Wow, so you just keep saying that it's silly to justify God's actions and God's plan. And that's it. You got nothing else? Brien Doyle is obviously intelligent. You should be asking him questions and learning. But you don't seem to want to learn, because you keep calling the history and literature he read his "opinion." That's not what opinion means. I'm starting to wonder if you're just a troll, or if you really are just an unquestioning believer, who missed the point in the video.

@michaelbard420 We all communicate what we don't intend, now and then. But when we realize it, don't you think it's then important to clarify? Also, if you're going to live on faith, and let God's plan work out, and God's plan includes everything, then it includes EVERYTHING. It doesn't fall to you to judge what is or isn't in God's plan. Jesus said God gave all judgment to him, and yet he judges no man. So you shouldn't judge either. Have faith.

Sistah Jan All that Gish gallop you wrote only works if you take the Bible literally. And if you take such obvious allegory from a perspective of crude literalism, the whole thing falls apart. The point is to love one another, and fight against the petty humanity inside us. It was that way for the ancient Jews, and that way for the Christians. But that has been lost, in the swirl of religious doctrine, and lack of imagination. That's why people who are against abortion use the Bible to justify their hatred of others. It why the Bible has been used since Constantine to make war. Faith without works is nothing. But works without faith is just fine. I've known atheists who behave more like Jesus taught than Christians.
