  1. The Trumpists have to claim to love America, because they would otherwise see they hate their country and most of its citizens. They have to wave the flag at their insurrection attempt, because they'd have to admit instead that what they're doing isn't for the good of the country. And, of course, they're filled with patriotic sayings, so they won't realize the people who are hugging the flag really can't stand the country either--and that is the secret appeal the right-wing mouthpieces have for them.
