I noticed the shelf too. Doesn't really speak to how well read he is though. For example, a person could position their camera to show a completely full bookshelf behind them, or having 2-5 U.S. flags behind them. That doesn't mean they're well read, or patriotic. It could mean they just want the visuals of being that way; and, likewise, that this guy didn't care about the visuals.

That's fine if they don't want their kids to take the blockers. But if it's someone else's kid, then they can zark off. It requires the approval of the parents, and from their physician.

@LittleBitofHopeToo2518 "they have been your age" Maybe they should be reminded of that. And while they aren't acknowledging that they were young once too, they also fail to see that these are different people, in a different culture, and a different time. Culture changes. I miss the big hair and chain smoking of the 80s. And we didn't have these newfangled intelligent phones, or even more than three channels to watch. But I realize it's a different time. And I adapt. They are not adapting.

@thirstfast1025 "y'all had a civil war" Ah, are you European? From the outside, it looks like a "both sides" thing. This is so even if you watch videos daily about each side. However, it looks very different from the inside. We didn't just have a single civil war. Our nation's history has always been filled with extreme cultural disagreements. The basic image of which is an old one: the pioneer vs the educated city dweller. That disparity only grew over time. And it erupted on several occasions, including the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794, which George Washington led American troops against Americans. And there were many other times. The Civil War was a big one. It not only fractured the country at the time, but was built from a fracture that was already formed, and only widened afterwards. January 6th was another such eruption.

@TransKidsMafia "sexual identity isn’t even close to fully developed." It's not really about sexual identity though, right? It's about gender identity. Those are two different things. If it's any consolation, when it's not your kids, it's not your problem, or your business.

@thirstfast1025 Cheers! I envy you living in Canada. I've read about it, and always wanted to visit, or even move there. I'm sure that I'm much more ignorant about Canada then you are about the U.S. So I hope I didn't come across as being caustic. :)

@hail_satan Another good point! Religious conservatives tend to preface what they say with, "I believe...." They aren't into knowing. They just believe. And, with the absence of actual knowing, their beliefs then become certain facts. Anything outside of their beliefs is then a threat to their very precarious world view.

That's not what it's about at all. If so, then heterosexual marriage has been doing that for centuries. "Keep it in the closet. Its private and personal, not everybody is giddy about it as you are...." Wouldn't this apply to you too? You think we want to hear you whine about stuff you clearly don't understand, while you assume you're a genius about it? It's wretched for me, at least, to see such hateful ignorance on display. Though I'm fine with a parade with people being happy and showing their love for each other.

@lolowilderkind English teacher? Awesome. Do you have a favorite writer or writers, even if they are just your favorites this month, which is how I like to think of it? I had some wonderful English teachers, going all the way back to 1st grade. My teacher, the divine Miss Beasley, used to give us story prompts as grammar and calligraphy exercises. She'd provide a paragraph, with the basic beginning of a short story, and we'd have to finish it, while practicing our letters and punctuation. Oh, how she would gush over my stories. She praised me in front of the class. I stuck with writing all my life because of her, and my other teachers as well. I love Kurt Vonnegut's novels, and have been getting into Joy Harjo's poetry.

How exhausting it must be for the conservative base, going from one life threatening, nation ending catastrophe to the next---with the shadowy deep state and the vague liberal agenda supposedly plotting to...what, again? Turn the frogs gay? But I guess it gives meaning to their otherwise dreary lives.

What we're seeing is a kind of "back in my day, we walked up hill, both ways, in the snow." And while the generational thing is more personal than that, with these conservatives, the difference amounts to a holy war. Democrats are "demoncrats," some of them say.
