Why do so many people overseas assume the U.S. is one homogenized group, with a single set of identical characteristics, all doing, thinking, and wanting the same thing? Is it the name United States? Are they taking it literally? Our country rarely, if ever agreed on any one thing, let alone the host of balderdash you see from maga: They do not represent even the majority of voters, let alone majority of voting-age public, or the entire population. I don't assume everyone in the U.K. (for example) thinks, likes, and wants the same things in politics. Asking "what's happened to the US" (as they did here) is a lot different than "what's happening in the US."

@degreaseLLC You can choose to completely dismiss what I wrote, like that, if you want. Just so long as you have the humility and wisdom to at least admit you're dismissing it. Whatever reason you want to explain that: fine. But it's your choice. Accept that. And then revel in how David takes your comment to heart, addressed to him and all. Do other Democrats not talk that way? So you're not speaking about all of us? Also, I'm sorry if you think "overly educated academics" isn't normal. I truly am. Boy, am I ever. Finally, the economy isn't the only metric David uses. In this very video he mentioned the unemployment rate being the lowest in 50 years. Is that not "normal" enough? How liberal are you? Are you uneducated, or just not overly educated? And how overly does a Dem have to go, before they cross the not-normal line?

I said "well informed." And anyone who is well informed will look up Joe's record, and Donny's record. And they'll see the glaring difference. And they'll respond to the poll based on that. They obviously did not.

@dmclover5475 Semantics is the study of meaning in language. So, yeah, words have meaning, and an actual definition. Oxymorons combine two contradictory words: old news, deafening silence. That's not what @zedeyejoe did there. If you can't admit to using the definitions of those two words incorrectly, you also would refuse to admit to your lack of expertise in Israel and other government matters.

@degreaseLLC I subscribe, but never became a member. When I'm unable to change something, I don't waste time on how I want it changed. I focus on things I can change. Remember the Serenity prayer? Don't have to be religious to learn from it.

Normally I disagree with approximate statistics. But I think you nailed that one very well. I might also be biased because New Zealand is so beautiful, and I'm super jealous you get to live there. :)
