First, there's no such thing as biological gender. Gender is societal and how one feels about oneself; sex is biological. Secondly, in case anyone hasn't guessed, this is an old school religious idea. By old school, I mean Old Testament. "A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this" (Deuteronomy 22:5). This is what the English used to justify burning Joan of Arc at the stake. Seriously. That was back in the year 1431. See, Joan had to dress like a man to fight in the French army, and lead it to victory over the English--which was why they really burned her at the stake. Their specific charge against her was heresy. The Catholic Church apologized for this, and made Joan a Saint in 1920. No one takes the Bible literally, and out of context like this, except to cover their own sins. Heresy, by the way, is different from blasphemy. Blasphemy is going against God; heresy, going against the church. So what those people in Texas are evoking is the charge of heresy. Think about that.

@nuclearcatbaby1131 The English who burned St. Joan, you mean? They said that Joan wearing pants was heresy. Not swapping clothes. French soldiers had a uniform that came with pants. And no women were allowed to serve. And women weren't supposed to wear pants. So Joan had to disguise herself as a man by wearing pants to fight in the army. Of course, that was only their justification. Joan had taken a French army that was all but beaten by the English, and led them to victory. That was why they really burned her. But since the English were a theocracy, they used that excuse to get away with it. And, plus, it no doubt made the English feel like they were fighting the good fight in God's name. I'm betting it's the same there in Texas.
