Not in every case, certainly. Anne Frank's family moved to Amsterdam, hoping they'd be safe.

If things really do go badly, then there will be nowhere to run. Anne Frank and her family moved to Amsterdam. But you-know-who went there too.

First, if I were to personally find something wrong with it all, what could I do? Unless someone with authority does the investigation, and it can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, nothing will change. Think about Mike Pillow, and the 64 lawsuits DonaldMcCheese filed. Secondly, and without the proof and authority to do something, it feels like the inability to accept the facts.

It's pretty complicated, and all anyone can do is guess. Maybe there are some facts, but I'd take them with a grain of salt, due to the confirmation bias of whomever gave me those facts.

@maureenmannion6748 Who? Anne Frank? If so, they didn't wait too long to leave. They left in plenty of time. It's just the Nutsies later occupied Amsterdam.

@harryballsak1123 "If they had escaped to the UK ort he US or Canada they would have been fine" Thanks, Captain Hindsight. They tried to go to the U.S., but were unable to get in. They were able to go to Amsterdam, though.

@BettyBoop-hm4hx "Unfortunately, they didn't move far enough away." They went where they were able to go. Her father tried for different places, including the U.S. We can only do what we're able to do.

@collinweeks6322 The U.S. didn't always let people in. They refused Anne Frank's family. And given our own practices here, American refugees could spend years waiting to be approved, or be separated from their children, or gassed at the border.

@schickman1994 "Comparing 1930’s Germany to the Trump era US is a major smooth brain take" While not 100% equivalent, there are numerous similarities. But since you used the term "smooth brain," I doubt you've read enough history (and know enough current facts) to know that.

@collinweeks6322 I'd actually be impressed by Americans who had the gumption to skedaddle to another country. I sure don't have the guts to do what refugees and immigrants have done.
