  1. They are committed, at this point. If they change, or go against their group, and/or their leader, then that would retroactively undermine everything they have done. Their entire sense of self-worth would collapse. That's why they are always against ANYTHING Democrats do, no matter if it's actually something good, that would greatly improve their lives--universal healthcare, for example. They are in it to the bitter end. Of course, that's not a political party anymore; it's a cult.
