  1. Republicans love saying, "It's okay that our people are such bastages, because so were people in the Bible." And then Carson goes on to say that the people on Wall Street are wolves, and you can't have someone nice as President. That's why God chose Trump. Talk about putting out fire with fire. Also, the Bathsheba thing was, first of all, fiction. Secondly, it has a whole story to it, and the comparison with Trump breaks down immediately. Even given that it's a story, Bathsheba was David's great mistake. And God punished him for it. It's similar to how Delilah was Samson's greatest mistake. The human writers of the Bible lived in a patriarchy, and it's extremely evident. But, besides Bathsheba, David was unbelievably cool and awesome. He was courageous (where Trump is a coward), and admitted his mistakes (which Trump never does), and he wrote music--so he was an artist. But he was also a great general, and led his troops into battle. Trump can't even dance to YMCA, and wouldn't be able to fight his way out of a wet paper bag--where David as a boy took down a man who was 9-feet tall.

  3. It was kept secret from his family. But, in the story, God knew--of course. And God threatened to bring down David's entire family. David admitted what he did was wrong (to God), and God forgave him. God did kill the firstborn offspring of theirs though. But the second was Solomon, who became their wisest King, and (according to the genealogy in the gospel of Matthew) was the ancestor of Jesus.

  6.  @hollyfischer1644  The facts are still present. And it isn't so much about opinion as "point of view." The reporter has always provided their point of view. This goes back to reporters during the Civil War talking about how Abe looked like a gorilla, with his long, dangling arms. They really harped on that, back in the day. And you think the reporters in WWII or Vietnam didn't give their points of view? If you want nothing but facts, I'm not sure what to tell you. Reuters, maybe? This is a commentary channel. David comments about stuff, whatever he wants to talk about. He talks plenty about Biden, and what he's doing. And David always gives facts, usually giving the background of those facts too.

  7. On the whole, atheists can be good people easier than Christians, partly because they don't have a bunch of silly, contradictory beliefs, and the self-assurance that an infinite god will forgive them--no matter what they do.

  11. Yes he did. And he did so after the thing with Bathsheba. God still punished him, by killing their first child together. But the second child lived: who was King Solomon. Oddly enough, the genealogy of Jesus, as told in the story of Matthew's gospel, traces the line of Jesus back to David...through Solomon. So it's because of David and Bathsheba that Jesus was born. Further, that birth happened because David repented, admitted what he did was wrong, accepted his punishment, and asked for forgiveness.
