@mikekolokowsky In Hebrew, "Satan" means "adversary." That's anyone who opposes you. Bishops in the middle ages decided Christianity needed a mythology, and God needed an antagonist. So they made up the ultimate adversary, by changing "satan" from an improper noun to a proper noun. The Bible verse you quoted is what Jesus said to the head apostle Peter, who obviously wasn't "Satan." But he was Jesus' adversary there, because Peter didn't want Jesus to be crucified. And Jesus' mission was to end with him being crucified.

@cmnr8487 "Because you were there when the bishops wrote the bible lol" No. Because the Catholic Church admitted it.
