  3.  @dootu  I didn't know the joke either. But I know that lots and lots of people are totally ignorant about the difference between fewer vs. less. And that's okay, because no one knows everything. But when the chance comes to learn, then learn it.

  4. If you don't know something, look it up. Never assume you know it. You can search for and verify anything at all, wherever you are. There's a difference when saying fewer vs. less. It's a real thing. No one knew it, before they learned it. So if someone knows it, then they had to learn it at some point. That means if you don't know it, then you can either learn like everyone else, or call someone a bad name because they pointed it out. Your ignorance is your responsibility. School's out. Can't blame formal education. Teachers aren't going to come to your house regularly, to make sure you're still learning. Since we can't know everything, learning is a life-long journey. You aren't done learning yet. No one is. You have the opportunity to know more about anything and everything than anyone in the history of the world. So if you refuse such an opportunity, then that's on you.

"It can seem like the only point of making the 'correction' is to make fun of the person." I'm sure that's what people who don't want to learn tell themselves, when someone points out their mistake: "They're making fun of me!" If they don't want to be made fun of again, then why don't they learn, and correct their ignorance? No one knows everything. So you know things I don't. And I know stuff you don't. You may be a genius at something, and a bonehead at other things. Your two basic choices are to correct your ignorance as you go, or refuse to. You can look up anything now.

You had to have felt the impetus to comment for some reason. What was that reason? Obviously, it's because you "see the caller's point." And what was that point? That he was offended. A joke isn't as funny when you have to explain it. And by the way, it's spelled "bizarre." Don't you have spell check? "Bizzare" isn't even a word. There's "bazaar," but you weren't close to that one either. Anyway, I replied because you claimed another poster (@Tim) was offended. And then you claimed that another poster had somehow illustrated your point that your reply lacked punctuation and capitalization. You thought it was ironic, maybe that @Tim was offended in someone else taking offense, because @Tim had replied--as there was no other hint in what they wrote that they were offended. But if that's true, then you were offended, because Pakman offended, and then you were offended again by @Margaret. So I found that ironic. Are you new to words? If English is your second language, I apologize.
