If we try to rationalize anything Trump supporters say, any further than this, it won't make any sense. This is it. Imagine what that has done to Trump. Millions of people champion what he says. And what he says is awful. Some of them have committed terrorist acts, against his enemies. They go to church during a pandemic. They get him out of impeachment, when he admitted his guilt on television. And so on. Trump has slipped the tracks, and he was never really on a track to begin with. He has taken their absolute loyalty to heart. And he has slowly been testing the waters.
