@vylbird8014 well that's what the deposit is for, that is used all over Europe. You pay a bit more for each bottle (plastic bottles and cans too btw), and you bring them back to get your money back. Works really well and is implemented in most of Europe (if not EU law, I'm not sure, but the deposit has existed for decades at least in the Netherlands and Germany, and most other European countries too I believe). If you just put it in the trash, glass is horrible for the environment (way more energy intensive to make). What makes it good is the fact that you can use a bottle 5-6 times before it needs to be recycled (and braking bottles is basically a non issue, it does happen, but so rarely it's a rounding error, since people handle them with care because if you bring them back, you get money for it).
Coca Cola still uses glass bottles a lot actually, but mostly for restaurants and bars, where 0.25 liter bottles are the standard for selling soft drinks.
