@SmileyEmoji42 that's just not really true. If cycling is safe, comfortable and more efficient, people will do it. Even if it is true that old people won't cycle (which just isn't true) that doesn't really matter that much. Old people might be a demographic increasing in size, but it's not like 80% of people are going to be 70+ in the near future. The vast majority of people are not old people and always will be, and old people travel less, so they're an even smaller part of traffic. You're saying bikes don't work because 1% of people won't use them, which is just a non-argument.

Yeah in the Netherlands this is so obvious. Practically every city centre in the country with shops is a car free zone. Everyone in the Netherlands knows that cars kill businesses, because that reality is insanely obvious when you have a car free city centre in every town and they are obviously the best places to go shopping/go get a drink or eat.
