I have to say, I don't often relate well to the US in general, but this might be the least relatable thing of them all. Apparently the job market is bad in the US. Meanwhile in the Netherlands, I applied for 3 jobs and got offered 4 (literally, all 3 accepted me and I got offered one I didn't even apply for). The Dutch job market is in shambles the other way around. Like every company has trouble hiring people. And in social positions it's even worse. Like were are literally releasing prisioners early, because there's no one who wants to actually guard the prisons we do have and are half empty.
