@kevinshort3943 it was all of Europe's foreign policy really. It's called the concert of Europe. And it was a thing for 100s of years. Everyone fought against pretty much everyone with everyone at some point in time to stop 1 power from gaining too much of it. Some got pretty far anyway (like Napoleon who took 7 coalitions of pretty much everyone else to curb back down to size). But quite often coalitions formed against aggressors, this worked reasonably well and discouraged war causing a time of relative peace (relative does some really heavy lifting here). It kinda never stopped. WW2 was pretty much an anti-German coalition because they got too big and really the reason the British and the French joined the war. And post WW2 the western world was basically in 1 coalition against the USSR (or the other way around depending on your point of view). And even nowadays NATO is kind of a coalition against expansionist Russia.
