  1. Usually it's not the generation of power that is the issue, it's the transport of it. In many places the electrical grid itself is overloaded. There simply aren't enough and thick enough wires to power everything. Yes, that is a very solvable issue, but it requires investment, and for profit companies tend to pay out the profit instead of actually expending their infrastructure to stay reliable into the future long term.

  2. Wait people didn't know that? I thought CD MP3 is something that everyone new about. We had a bunch of them in the car. But then again, my father worked for Philips in the R&D department, on audio and video stuff. And Philips co-designed the CD with Sony, so he was right there as it all was developed.

  3. My microwave only has 3 buttons: +, - and start/stop. It works fine honestly.

  4. Even in the Netherlands they're pretty popular, so not just southern Europe. Most houses have them, but they are practically always retractable. You don't really need them (you actually don't want them) when it's 5 degrees outside.
