Fair enough! I just couldn't fit all this mission into one part, on the other hand I don't have the time to make an hour long documentary every 2 weeks, so these parts are a compromise :)

I talk about that in greater detail in the previous episodes :)

Proof?

Speculation isn't proof I'm afraid...

It didn't stay connected, it was constantly connecting and reconnecting when it went in and out of range. It was assisted somewhat though by the MRO, which acted like an orbital relay to Earth. But there were weeks when they couldn't communicate with Opportunity when Earth and Mars' orbit had the Sun directly in the middle of them. During those times Opportunity operated autonomously as much as it could. It had the software to do basic things by itself.

Go to the end of the video for the playlist! :)

The rocks, maybe. What I want to see are craters like that on Earth!

That circle was created by the rover's own rock abbrasion tool on its arm. They do that so they can see a cross section of the rock

You're right, it's 40 mins latency which means it's a return trip, 20 mins to get there and 20 back, my mistake 😥
3
Yes, in the previous episode :)
3
Nope! Just this one :)

I did! Anytime it says "illustration", you know it's cgi, if not then there is usually text to say if it's true colour, which mission took it etc.
2
That is the rover's own parts and solar panels... They look a bit distorted because this image is a mosaic

Proof?
2
Yes!

Released in 2 weeks!

They did actually do it. Some of the timelapses are from the rear camera as sometimes they put the rover in reverse to even out the wear on the components :)

Earth is a lot more wet than mars generally, meaning dirt sticks onto things easier. On Mars the wind will blow the dust off!

Thanks to the Chang'e rover, we even have images from the surface as well as from orbit! http://lroc.sese.asu.edu/images

Eventually yes! I'll finish this series before that though.

Let's say they humoured you and actually put a camera on the moon to take real time photos of earth... Wouldn't you just say it was fake? Seems like a wasted exercise.

Also, I didn't realise your car cost a billion dollars? I love people that make comparisons like these, they really aren't the same... Haha!
1
They aren't trimmed, it's a mosaic of several images stitched together.
1
It's about the length of exposure, a few days would probably be alright, but you wouldn't go to Mars for just a few days!
1
It definitely had liquid water so air pressure would have been somewhat similar at some point, whether it was breathable or not though, we don't know right now!

No, it's ripples in the sand dune. The true colour image will help distinguish it. We often use false colour on Mars to help distinguish between features as true colour tends to be harder as you can see: https://www.nasa.gov/images/content/207411main_Sol1162B_P2299_L257atc-hires.jpg
