  1. Finally you're back! This is not just about the writing experience. But also that look! and that clicky sound. Sure the Unicomp is a good keyboard, it just doesn't sound right. The model M was the first keyboard I ever used, on THE AT and then ps2. I still miss that keyboard. It was is the definition of the PC keyboard. I wonder how much impact the IBM typewriters had on the design. Those typewriters had marvelous keyboards. Thank you for another great video. ❤️

  2. YES, also a video about loading software into C64 but also old Thinkpads/Compaqs from the 1990'ies to play old DOS games. I got an old Thinkpad, 380 I think, even found the driver for the USB 1 socket in the back. It worked and works with modern USB sticks. Took forever to figure all that out together with how to install a new Compact Flash drive. It requires patience, tenacity and some creativity. Was great fun. I could play Space Quest I from Sierra Online. Played that and the others on my first PC in 1988. It almost made me cry....

  5. Just got into Linux (mint, cinnamon) for real for the first time. i really like it. Only problem has been getting the zoom right with text in different programs. I have on a lenovo yoga 14". I love old hardware and software. Please do more of these videos. First PC bought in 1988. DOS. Got a Thinkpad from 19997 to play old Sierra Online games, the only games I ever played while at university. Somehow that means a lot to me. Got it working, even the usb port on the back so transfering the old Space Quest games etc is so easy. VERY SATISFYING. Difficult to explain why. But we spend soo much time on these machines and their software. But I don't care about smartphone hardware or the programs. No emotions, no nostalgia. Which I can't explain either.

  7. Regarding text vs graphic user interfacea. And using WP vs Word as an example. I am sure I have googled Word a thousand times more than for WordPerfect. Just to say that graphical user interfaces are not always better. Or at least not as productive.

  8. LM vs Win11. After all these years there are still two control apps: control panel and settings as you mention. The fonts and many window panels in Windows have the same look from 25 years ago. Fonts are important. Apple always understood this. Even the Iphone fonts look way better than anything Android.

  9. So true. Just try driving and streaming music. Every so often, instead of music you'll hear, at the next junction turn right and follow the left lane to.... Now turn right. It's actually a nightmare. My favorite nav app does NOT resume music playback!

  10. Am I the only one getting a bit tired of Windows? Eternal updates interrupting you, more big data tracking to serve you 'relevant' ads, bloatware etc. The old IT world was 'cleaner', no/less intrusion, things more transparant. Difficult to explain.

  12. Give me DOS and Word Perfect 4.1 (I think that was the last great version? ). It's all I need and I'm in heaven. WP has never been beaten in terms of speed and sheer efficiency. Word is a clown in comparison...

  13. Just installed LM on a Minisforum mini PC (TH50) on a seperate SSD, the m.2 had Windows Pro on it. I use Linux 90% of the time and Windows for the odd program. So far I'm really only missing a good file rename program and a mp3 tag manager. Oh, and a good alternative to Adobe Lightroom, very difficult.....Bluetooth, wifi drivers etc, all good.

  16. You did the right thing. You are obviously a people person, outgoing and social, getting your energy from being extroverted. There are 4 major/basic types of persons (Jung, Freud). Your person must match the job/company for you to be happy. Jungs theory is a 2x2 box. Horizontally we move from low dominance to high dominance. From prioritizing relationships before results. A good vibe comes before performance and bullying everyone to get results. The vertical line goes from being extrovert/high sociability to introvert with low sociability scores. You are, based on your videos, high sociable - you suffer alone in front of your screen because you are extrovert. You get the biggest kicks from being with people, as you say yourself. You are also not the bossy type, I gues, so low on dominance. You focus on relationsships, being supportive to others. And less focused on yourself. Thats why you liked teaching so much. I was in marketing for 20 years, but as a researcher mainly. I teached for 15 years after that. Both jobs fit me perfectly - low on dominance (the supportive type) and being very outgoing/amiable. I loved being with my students. Hope you can use this. Perhaps your dream job would be full time youtuber peppered with speaches, books and music :face-blue-smiling:
