Not What You Think

Opecuted No, it's not. Battleships are defined by their small number of big guns and their armor—mostly their armor, being nearly a meter thick on some places. Every modern ship has a laughable amount of firepower by comparison. Battleships no longer exist. A battle cruiser is just a particularly large cruiser designed to kill cruisers at this point.

What about battlecruiser

Bruh, that's another level of deep. I'm gonna have to think on that.

@veteranassassin4591 Because they're much slower than the rest of the cruisers and destroyers that would need to accompany them, so they wouldn't align with anyone's doctrine. Also, all the armor in the world won't stop a single missile from disabling you. While it's unlikely that a single missile would sink a battleship, it would probably force it to get repaired, taking it out of the fight. Battleships have enourmous crews that could better be used on several smaller ships with similar firepower. Battleships are also less flexible and require much more fuel due to their size. They can't simply be switched to nuclear power, either; it's basically impossible.

Opecuted False. A battlecruiser's displacement is significantly larger than a cruiser, and most all modern cruisers would have been classified as light cruisers in WWII.

Opecuted I'd say so, since it would still have more armor than literally anything that's been on the sea since the Iowa Class was retired in the 90s. I think their armor is more what stands out than their guns bc battlecruiser's could also carry guns above 12" and often did.

Opecuted Yeah, that's who always pays for it.

@AuxenceF Sort of. A battleship could probably survive several hits from Sam's before sinking, but even one would force it back to the drydock for repairs.
1
@AuxenceF No, not really. Iowa was extremely fast, but moving a lot of mass quickly requires a lot of fuel. We could do this with nuclear power, but, like, why bother.

@perlasandoval7883 I don't think you know what you're talking about. In their hayday, they were invincible.
