I don't think so. It can't do cargo because it's full of guns, so it wouldn't be used for cargo. I think it's that the C-130 is the base platform, but the preceding "A" is the modifier, so it's a C-130 modified for an attack role.

There's no aircraft called the "A-10 Warthog". That's just a nickname, and nobody would ever use those together. It's the "Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II" if you want to be fancy. I've honestly never heard anyone call it a Warthog in the military; it's just the "A-10" or "A-10 Thunderbolt II." The name comes from Fairchild Republic's WWII fighter, the P-47 Thunderbolt. Similarly, the Lockheed F-35 Lightning II was named after their flagship WWI fighter, the P-38 Lightning.

I think this might be due to the frequency of the engines. If they're higher pitch, they will be louder up close than from far. That's why the Abrams' gas turbine is more quiet than the typical diesel of other nations' mbtd
