The Ka-52 is arguably a far superior helicopter, but the Longbow weapon system is incredibly good.

Dr. Bright It has better performance for sure, but I seriously doubt we'll ever see the Longbow weapon system in War Thunder; it can literally wipe an enemy team from behind a mountain.

@Husker5454 I'll never forgive the Apache for not being the AH-56. The actual helicopter is not that good. It's a cold war design and it shows. The KA-50/52 are the next generation of helicopters and looking at what the Army is buying, that's all the more apparent. What makes the Apache good is the Longbow weapon system. Otherwise, it's just a slightly more armored Supercobra.

@tellyboy17 Well, yeah, but every helicopter falls into this category; manpads are hard counters to helicopters, so pointing this out is like saying that infantry are good for artillery. Yes, they are good for artillery, but it doesn't make them any less useful.

@Husker5454 I don't think you understand, either. the Apache isn't better than the Ka-52; it's far worse, actually. However, the Longbow is the best weapon system of its type in the world and carries the Apache so hard that people forget how archaic the actual design is. The Ka-52s are doing rocket-runs because there is no point wasting expensive ATGMs on soft targets. Also, missiles aren't cheap and they need to keep those good ATGMs in reserve in case they need to shoot MBTs later. There is also the matter of US pilots having more flight hours than Russian counterparts. The last time the US actually used to Longbow as intended, it was a very different war. You can't compare either invasion of Iraq to Ukraine; Ukraine isn't just rolling over and they have the support of the West. The Ka-52s can't just loiter and visually guide missiles because they'll die.
