I worry that training an entire generation on this optic will not work well if EMPs fry the optic or they run out of battery. Sure, it might be usable like the ACOG, but looking back, I was one of the last Marines who trained on irons before they were phased out of boot camp. The boots that came after me didn't know how irons worked, and they were useless if they had to use anything with them, including machine guns, somehow. If the army wants to have this high tech system, every single soldier needs to be at least 80% as proficient with irons, relative to the capability of that system, and I don't see the army extending the length of boot camp by two weeks to teach a weapon system that they will rarely use.
