  1. Yeah that was freaky about not being able to open the door in the love hotel. I wonder what the logic of that is ? To stop people sneaking out without paying ?

  2. Toyoko Inn ! My favorite !! I think it is a great option for people looking for affordable accommodation in metropolitan areas. If they still allow smoking in some rooms, just make sure you book a non-smoking room (if you are a non-smoker).

  3. Good point about the business hotels, I think most of the ones I stayed at had non-smoking rooms. Sometimes I booked too late though and couldn't get a non-smoking room. You are right the smell can be pretty bad.

  4. Wow that Ryokan was pricey ! I guess it was nice though !! I only stayed at a Ryokan once in Japan. It was enjoyable, but honestly I'm not big on just soaking in hot springs, so for me it probably wasn't worth it. For people that just want somewhere to sleep there are more affordable business hotel options.
