It was at least two years ago that I heard about the US DOE funding several projects aimed at generating power from depleted oil wells. Some of them are surprisingly deep.

Fusion power is 20 years away, just like it's been for the last 60 years.

They have no integrity, they are not scientists at all.

The "green" party is a Communist front. Their goal is to undermine and destroy democracies so that they can sieze power in the ensuing chaos. Attacking German's power grid is one of these tactics, and they largely succeeded in making Germany dangerously dependent on Russia during the time that Merkel (another lifelong communist) was in power.

Don't protect the guilty. Name and shame that professor.

I'm convinced that we'll eventually go to geothermal for most stationary power generation, and hydrogen for transport fuel. There are engines that can deliver power from a delta-T of only 40C, and you don't have to drill all that deep to find rock at 40 degrees above your ambient air temperature.

Nothing wrong with hydrogen, it's the wind and solar that's the problem. Generating hydrogen from feeding crop waste to anaerobic bacteria can bring its cost below petroleum.

@alexander7298 I'm not talking about methane. There are hydrogen-producing bacteria too.

I wouldn't say that it's not possible eventually. It's a question of how many neurons you can connect to, and I would expect that to follow a Moore's law curve. Just look at the progress we've had in digital photography over the last 20 years.
