  1. On my first trip to Puerto Vallarta, I met a friend there for dinner, and I was very surprised to learn that he wasn't welcome at the hotel bar where I was staying. We went to a restaurant with some other friends of his, and I would have checked out of that hotel in the morning, but he told me that all the hotels in town had the same policy.
