  1. Dyson realized, however dimly, that he was utterly out of his depth, so he abandoned debate and went for insult. This demonstrates that he's a pseudo-intellectual who had no business being on that stage in the first place. This forum was not his usual safe space in academia where everyone plays along with his pretense of competence. He doesn't like having to think instead of feel, so he made a display of emotion: a tantrum.
