Not even to make money. He's a narcissist craving attention.

SpaceX is switching to liquid methane for the superheavy/starship system. They rejected hydrogen due to the difficulty of handling and producing the needed quantities to allow the very ambitious launch schedules they're aiming for.

All of the young people who have left Russia since the first invasion of Ukraine are gone for good. Russia's economy is fucked, even if they give Pewtin the Ceausecu treatment that he deserves. Anyone with money to invest would have to be a moron to risk it in Russia.

The penalty is absurdly lenient. He should be cooling his heels in prison for the full 20 years, forbidden from ever operating any kind of vehicle again, and forced to surrender his passport.

The man is a bona fide engineer, not another goddamned marketing dweeb or bean counter. He's the best chance they've had in a generation.

Putin is proving extremely expensive to the Russian economy. It would be cost-effective for any affected oligarch to simply hire all of Putin's security detail for $1M per man to take him out like Kruschev.

The main hurdle is bringing the cost of hydrogen down. Once it's cheaper than jet fuel per unit of energy, the switch will happen. Many people are working on bringing that cost down. $1/Kg should do it.

@TheEvilmooseofdoom Handling and storage of hydrogen is a solved problem, ever since the Apollo program.

Worth mentioning that side sticks are a lot easier to operate than a yoke when you're taking high Gs in a fighter jet.

This thing would be horifically loud.

Wasn't this idea rejected back in the late 80s because it's horrifically noisy?

there were a couple of bombers in the 50s and 60s that had two engine types. One even mixed jets and turboprops.

The FAA should ban him from ever holding a license again, and YouTube should pull all his content.

Well, I think they should have yanked his ticket in 48 hours or less, given the massive amount of video evidence available. Hope that 1) he never has a license to fly again, and 2) this costs him enough to teach him a serious lesson. Half a million bucks in fines should do it.

Boeing is salvageable, but they need to remove current management. If Elon Musk bought them out they'd have a chance.

I would not risk doing business in Brazil until they overthrow their communist dictatorship. Elon Musk is the canary in the coal mine.

My take on them is that they're fine for training, but basically useless as transportation. All these people working on E-VTOLs are shooting themselves in the head with their tree-hugging dogma.

I wouldn't use the term "nationalize". "Looting" is more accurate. Putin is a chekist thug, and russia desperately needs to take him out before they revert to the squalor of the soviet union.

No moreso than a similar volume of jet fuel. You're unlikely to see an optimal fuel-air mixture detonation in either case.

The Skonk Works in the L'il Abner comic wasn't a factory, it was a brewery or distillery, where Kickapoo Joy Juice was made.
