  1. At the time of the Hiroshima bomb, the Japanese military was murdering a hundred thousand people per month in the countries they occupied. Truman's duty was to end the war with as few allied casualties as possible. Saving millions of Japanese lives in the process was just a lucky break for Japan. We had just seen the results of Japanese propaganda on Saipan and Okinawa, and we know that their death cult government was willing to do the same throughout Japan.

  2. I knew a Dutch gentleman, friend of the family, who was enslaved by the Germans during the war, and was liberated when the Allies got to Haarlem (not sure when that was, exactly). He found the first American officer he could, and said that he wanted to join the US Army. Since he spoke Dutch, German, French, and English, he was made an interpreter and immediately promoted to sergeant. He was on the front lines from that day until the end of the war, and after he was mustered out of the US Army, he joined the British Army and served in the occupation forces.
