  1. I'd like to know how these propellors perform in ducts. Is there any benefit to a toroidal configuration in a bow thruster, an azipod, or the blower in your HVAC system?

  2. Calling ground-loop heat pumps "geothermal" is marketing BS that started in the early 80s, as I recall. The heat they scavange is solar heat accumulated in the summer. A true geothermal source would be a deep well that obtains heat that started in the ground: the residual heat of the earth's aggregation, and heat created by radioactive decay in the core and mantle conducting up through the crust.

  8. This is far less impressive than M-cycle indirect evaporative cooling, which can use as little as 10% of the power required for compressor-based cooling. Sealy is selling M-cycle coolers since they acquired Coolerado a few years ago.

  11. I'm convinced that battery cars will ultimately prove to be the transition stage between petroleum and hydrogen as our most common transport fuel. Once hydrogen gets cheaper than gasoline per unit energy, the world will swtich, and there's nothing that Exxon or the Saudis can do to prevent it.
