  1. On C.S. Lewis and drift (7:45); Lewis was writing about the UK, in the middle of the 20th c., where the dominant religious experience was of the Church of England, not a fervent tradition. I'm sure he didn't have any statistical data, but drifting away would very likely be a large part of the experience. But the more I learn about US conservative Evangelicalism, the easier I find it to understand people reacting violently against it--and ending up atheists with a rather limited view of the possibilities and variety of religious belief.
