  1. One reason why vehicles are getting higher is aging populations. As I have got older and fatter, and my knees get worse and worse, I get happier with a high seating position. Also, of course, the SUV mania. But in many parts of the world the market for new small cars is very largely the elderly and frankly old, and we like our seats higher. But we don't need SUVs. Tip: if you or a loved one are having trouble getting in and out of a car, I have found nothing (and I've looked) better than the Toyota Porte and Spade. They're only differentiated by styling, and of course JDM only and now discontinued, but if you're in a RHD country, worth looking for.
