Excellent, but one thing that bugs you has been around for a long time--cars getting bigger and heavier. I took one of the first Toyota Coronas for a test drive, and it was a very nice little car: little. Coronas got bigger and bigger until they had to introduce the Corolla for that small four-seater spot. And then ... and we have the Yaris (or whatever it's called in your market). I've seen it explained as being because a lot of buyers have model loyalty, but also (as used to happen) had more money to spend (and perhaps more weight to carry around), so they wanted the same again, only bigger. Dunno if that's true, but.
