  1. I'm surprised no one raised the argument that Christmas is an appropriation of the pagan Saturnalia, or the feast of Sol Invictus. (It's not Saturnalia, and probably has little to nothing to do with Sol, but these ideas are popular with the anti-Christmas crowd, which, as it happens, includes some hyper-Protestants).
