@lumpfish99 Go and buy some land and build what you like without planning permission, find out the hard way the reasons why it's illegal...!

@Flamorgan You’re just playing with words, it took about ten years of Court battles and the courts did not automatically take the councils side. The council did not put the cars there. The contractor, who was the owner of the land, put the cars there. He took on a contract of storing impounded cars, a impounded car can’t be scraped until sanctioned to do so. The owner of the land was the one who started storing cars on land that was always green belt status.

Hudson: That's it! Game over, man! Game's over! What the fuck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do? Burke: Maybe we could build a fire and sing couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?! Newt: We'd better get back because it'll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night. Mostly.

@Flamorgan There maybe articles on Google regarding the councils supposedly illegal use, but they are misleading articles. Even the previous owner, when being questioned by the travellers on the history of Dale Farm, was pointing to an area on a photo where the travellers are not being evicted from and where the hardstands are ok to be there. This went through the Courts and the claims that were made by the travellers were wrong.

@Flamorgan The travellers did not buy the land off the Basildon council. The Dude was on the news who sold the land to the to the travellers. Councils do not normally run car impound yards, contractors do, no Council in their right mind would have a car impound yard near travellers. More likely the Dude who owned the land was allowing contractors on it, impound yard and the hard footings.

@lumpfish99 Previous owner of the Dale Farm, where the scrapyard was, did not even have planning permission himself. The Previous owner should have cleaned the site back to soil and not sold the land to travellers who wanted to build on it without planning permission. Officers were faced with a level of violence and so they used a Taser, big deal, get over it already….=)-

@Flamorgan The north-east corner of Dale Farm was green belt and a scrap yard was without planning permission in the early 1960s. Dude, storing impounded cars, the cars are not buildings and were not going to be there forever. You need planning permission for a caravan site and homes.
