why would that be terrifying? we could always bring life to other planets. eventually, our galaxy will be full of life because of us. can someone explain why it's scary? i honestly don't understand

i like that book, but i don't agree with the theory, mainly because i think any civilization beyond type 0 should no longer be bothered by scarcity, and should be peaceful either through genetic engineering or evolution.

@TyrianHaze a type one civilization should also be able to do something about the sociopath and psychopath within their species. Their culture and social norms should be at a stage where they no longer tolerate bullying. You cannot compare our current culture and social norm with beings hundreds of years ahead of us

@TyrianHaze we are thousands of years technologically, tyrian. socially, we're just getting started. you know these "woke" movement that everyone is so annoyed of? we are currently trying to figure out a way to get people to accept one another and believe it or not, it is kind of working. at least for MOST of the younger generation, anyway. if you are comparing the younger ones with the older ones, the younger are less racist, less sexist, and much more welcoming than any of the older ones. There are more people who are opposing war than any time in human history. During a disastrous event, there are people who travel to a different part of the world to help out. we are also in one of the most peaceful times in human history. there is less war now than it has ever been. I think you are observing our species the wrong way. you are not looking at the progress. you are looking for an illogical complete turnaround for our species but you don't care for how we get there. i'm sorry but it looks like we're both born in the wrong century. peace IS going to happen for our kind, but you and i won't be alive to see it. a species that survive long enough to be advanced should have enough time to improve themselves peacefully. after thousands upon thousands upon thousand, they should all (or most) be against war, and more empathetic. to only improve technologically would be a literal doom to the entire species because how would they survive if they never develop a culture of cooperations and tolerance? as technology becomes more complex, it'll take some time to research and explore. you can't have this if the whole planet is trying to kill each other. so once again, i completely disagree with you

@bunbun1741 and i said that i disagree with the dark forest theory. i literally wrote that. an advanced civilization should be capable of manipulating their world at an atomic scale, rearranging atoms to make anything they want. we are currently trying to make nanomachines and inject them into our bodies for health reasons. you're telling me that a space faring civilization who are thousands of years ahead can't find a way to use their nanomachine to control the surrounding atoms? so the only thing that makes them advanced are just bigger guns and bigger ships? that's it?
