@pa5666 if there are so many downsides, why do you love it? i'm an American and i hate it. everything is so damn expensive right now and my income is so low. i thought about doing BootCamp for software development for a higher income job, but i heard lots of negative things about BootCamp, like how most companies reject anyone with a certification from them.

@Arcticanine you like a country you never visit? how does that work?

@Arcticanine education system, debt and our tipping culture are all part of America. i don't understand why you are separating them. also i would take what you see on social media with a grain of salt. you are only seeing what the owner of that picture or video want you to see.

@3ildcard but people still come here so it got to be better than some countries, right?

@Tama-zephyrwindlass But why would you separate the action from the person? You are what you do, not what you say.

@GlorifiedGremlin i think there is a misunderstanding here. everyone who took in student loan know what they're getting themselves into. i don't understand why you all think they don't. maybe you are in denial by the fact that most companies in the US required a bachelor degree.

@GlorifiedGremlin they should have their debt forgiven because it's not their fault. they were told by their parents and teachers that having a loan for their education is a "good thing". when they apply for a job that pays above minimum wage, almost all of them required a bachelor degree, so for them this is a confirmation that getting a college degree is not only a "good thing", but a "must" as well. you don't have to feel bad for them, but you need to understand the reasoning behind it. based on your opinion, it's clear you don't understand why these kids are choosing college. you're not looking deeper into the situation, and you have no one to challenge you on your thought. you probably got lucky and are living a good life right now, but to think that everyone can be in the same position as you is a little childish

@GlorifiedGremlin they're not grown adults. our brain is fully developed at around the age of 25. they are making the decision to take on student loans at the age of 18. this is an age where they just left high school with the lessons from learned from their parents and teachers still fresh in their mind. to expect sudden wisdom and knowledge from kids fresh out of high school is unreasonable. financial literacy isn't taught in school (at least not for me when i was in school) and most parents in America are too financially illiterate to teach their kids about money. punishing them for this lack of knowledge will not solve the problem. community college are looked down upon by most companies since they prefer big name universities or at least a 4-year accredited college on a resume. remember this is about getting a job that pays more than minimum wage and most companies want to see a bachelor degree nobody forgave you for your debt because they got a high-income job from your education and can pay it back. i don't know how old you are, but assume you're over 40, your debt probably wasn't even that bad. now that you're a grown adult, it is your responsibility to make life better for the next generation, instead of whining about how unfair it was for you. again, what you are doing is very childish
