Here is a debate: To circumnavigate the Earth using standard airline flights on a route south of the equator -- when using the Flat Earth model (with the North Pole in the center and the South Pole as the outer edge around the flat Earth) -- would require at least twice the distance flown and twice the number of flight hours or more in comparison to a similar route north of the equator. As an example, if both routes were flown at precisely 45 degrees latitude -- one in the north, and the other in the south -- mathematically (in the Flat Earth model) the southern route would require 2 1/3 times more miles or 233% greater distance flown. Here are actual flight times and distances for nonstop flights now in service: Following a route north of the equator from Paris to Hong Kong to Guam to Honolulu to Los Angeles to New York and returning to Paris gives the following flight times and distances: Paris to Hong Kong 12 hours 10 minutes 5970 miles Hong Kong to Guam 4 hours 45 minutes 2090 miles Guam to Honolulu 7 hours 5 minutes 3800 miles Honolulu to Los Angeles 5 hours 10 minutes 2550 miles Los Angeles to New York 5 hours 23 minutes 2470 miles New York to Paris 6 hours 50 minutes 3620 miles Total distance flown: 5990+2090+3800+2550+2470+3620=20,520 miles Total flight time: 41 hours 23 minutes To circumnavigate the Earth on a route south of the equator from Sydney, Australia to Santiago, Chile to Sao Paulo, Brazil to Johannesburg, South Africa and returning to Sydney gives the following flight times and distances: Sydney to Santiago 12 hours 30 minutes 7040 miles Santiago to Sao Paulo 3 hours 45 minutes 1610 miles Sao Paulo to Johannesburg 10 hours 15 min 4630 miles Johannesburg to Sydney 11 hours 45 min 6850 miles Total distance flown: 7040+1610+4630+6850=20,130 miles Total flight time: 38 hours 15 minutes These are standard flights traveling east with normal flight times that are flown by the public regularly and published through various online booking agencies. These therefore cannot be disputed and provide simple proof in terms of time and distance traveled on similar jet aircraft. We were looking for something of approximately twice the distance for the southern route. However, the distances are relatively very close, the northern route actually having the greater distance. This is sufficient proof that the northern and southern hemispheres are concentrically very similar and therefore cannot share a flat plane. The Earth must be spherical as a result. Flat Earth becomes a religion just as many other scientific disciplines have been rendered, limiting and suppressing knowledge both old and new for various misguided reasons.

  2.  @lucskywalker5559  . . If the Earth was flat, everyone on Earth would see the same sky when they look up. If the Earth was flat, you could not have a different sky in the southern hemisphere with constellations that cannot be seen from the north. If the Earth was flat, everyone would be able to look up and see the pole star Polaris at the same height each night. However, this is not the case. People further south see the star Polaris lower in the sky on the same night. As the season changes, this changes also.

The apparent rotation of the stars at night around the northern pole star Polaris is an excellent indication of the Earth's rotation for people in the northern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere when looking in the southern sky at night, the faint star called Polaris Australis, difficult to see with the eye, serves as a pole star around which other stars also appear to rotate.

  4.  @beanlegume9965  . . Naturally the Big Dipper is going to appear above the North Star 50% of the time. You sure attempt to confuse yourself over something so simple and obvious.

  5.  @lucskywalker5559  . .The big dipper can be above or below the pole star, depending on the season and time of night. It rotates around the pole star. If it sits above the pole star, it will be visible from the equator.

  6.  @lucskywalker5559  . .I'll state that more correctly -- From the northern hemisphere, the pole star [Yes, ash wednesday, the North Star -- you're on the ball] is always visible at any time of the year. The entire sky appears to rotate around the pole star as it remains in one place so that the big dipper will be seen during rotation sometime during the night when the sky is clear. From the equator, you'll see all of the sky above the pole star, while nearly half of the time the big dipper will be above the star and in view if you have night sky, depending on the season and time of night.

So many difficulties and discrepancies in every aspect of the Apollo program -- beyond inconclusive notions of waving flags when moving the pole -- only one of which is necessary to render the entire program a theater for public consumption while elevated technologies and developments are kept from benefiting humanity . . and we are deluded with public spectacles, such as Apollo performing the identical maneuver of rendezvous in lunar orbit as takes place in near-Earth orbit -- without radar installations on multiple continents, mainframe processing . . let alone an inertial navigation system which the shuttle itself did not have -- all necessary data received through uplink from Houston for rendezvous in near-Earth orbit . . and all of which would be necessary to perform the complex orbital mechanics of rendezvous in lunar orbit. A simple computer aboard the LM that was the functional equivalent of a basic calculator provided none of this capability.
