It's delusion for anyone to believe that rocket technology can be viable in the future for mining in space. For anything greater than probes, the very limited potential for rocket technology can only be extended beyond near-Earth orbit through overwhelming expense in constructing interplanetary vehicles in Earth orbit that would be capable enough to safely transport both people and equipment -- or possibly automated equipment for mining purposes -- an expense for any purpose that would never be commercially recoverable and would bankrupt nations in the attempt to compensate for such limited potential. This is in contrast to undisclosed technologies that have much greater potential than public programs that create theater for public consumption. Although near-Earth orbit is real, there are also indications of questionable activity concerning its veracity for some activities as demonstrated, regardless of hardware floating around in space. This is not in any way a denial of programs involving near-Earth orbit rather than specific activities that don't hold up under critical review.
