Ran Moore If you change your oil on schedule you will never have oil breakdown, and never have a failure...and no need for Lucas bullshit. It was Rotella that saved your engines, not Lucas.

dustin britton Bullshit. You're saying diluting your oil with gunk that has zero wear additives is somehow a good thing? If what you claim is true, then why isn't all oil thick and sticky to start with?

Christopher Gibbs The negative logic is amazing, isn't it! "I put garbage in my engines for ten years and they didn't explode, so garbage must be good." Sounds like the guy who thinks cigarettes are good because he smoked ten years and hasn't gotten cancer yet.
7
dustin britton Nonsense. Oil doesn't drain out of bearings with a thousandth of an inch clearance. I've torn down engines that have been sitting in a field 10 years, they still had oil in the crank and rod bearings. I've never used your stupid gooey junk in 2 million miles of driving, and no engine of mine has ever failed. Show me a scientific blind test that proves Lucas extends engine life....oh wait, you can't.
6
dustin britton Curious to hear you explain how Lucas gunk magically adds metal back onto worn parts.
5
dustin britton LOL, you clearly know nothing about automobile engines. Main bearing clearance on a Honda 4 cylinder, as an example, is .0009 - .0013...in other words, a thousandth of an inch...dumb ass. "Never worked on an engine".. I've been working on them 40 years.

robbie turnbull You're a silly little boy, aren't you? In science you don't prove negatives you prove positives. Lucas has been able to convince enough morons that a ten dollar bottle of nothing but useless sticky gunk oil with zero protective additives, no SAE rating, and no proven capability at all can magically fix, repair, and salvage any engine. With dupes like you, they don't need to make any claims...aside from the fact the FTC would shut them down just like they did to Slick50. A test with two lawn mower engines being run without oil is as meaningless as two engines being run while two dogs piss on the carburetors. Absolutely nothing to do with the real world.

Nothing, because nobody operates an engine that way. If I greased one of the engines with axle grease and it ran longer than one with only an oil film (which it well might), does that mean we start dumping axle grease into our engines? Which auto manufacturer recommends using ANY additive in their engines? None.
2
Ny Chan How many miles do they run before they blow up or are rebuilt?
2
dustin britton You "don't need to show me any scientific evidence"? Really? Then I wonder what you would show? I'll show you my daily driver which has almost 300,000 miles on it, original engine, original transmission, no additives or Lucas sticky gunk ever used.
2
dustin britton I call bullshit. First of all, no additives will silence an engine worn so badly it has bearing knock, nor will such an engine continue to run very long. Second, I think you are math-challenged. 31,000 hours is 15 years of running a constant 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. 1,700,000 miles would be the equivalent of driving 9 hours straight 7 days a week for over 10 years. You guys must be busy bees. Maybe try doing an overhaul once in a while?

Sorry, but this kind of test is completely meaningless. The bearing score test is irrelevant, because it doesn't reflect any real world operating conditions, and running engines without oil is equally meaningless. STP and Lucas are nothing but thick oil, although STP does at least put in a small amount of anti-friction additive. I fail to see the point of this exercise.

dustin britton When they're knocking and burning oil they need it.
1
robbie turnbull You're way off base. Lucas has never been shown to do anything beneficial, period. How can you abuse a product that does nothing? How do I know it does nothing? Because it's been independently analyzed, and there's nothing there but thick oil, not even a detergent. Why not just dump gear oil in your engine? Not only is it cheaper, it actually has real anti-wear additives as well. Why not pack your engine with axle grease... that'll really quiet those knocks down...LOL!
1
robbie turnbull Your "argument" is irrelevant, and has nothing to do with the topic. Nobody fills their engine full of Lucas. Nobody fills their engine full of cow shit, either. Nobody drains out their oil and drives around, unless they're insane, or really stupid. In any case, the test is meaningless, and proves nothing...get it?
1
Sandor Clegane Yeah, you dump a bottle in and your odometer resets to zero.
1
Aaron Cubitt You mean it gummed up the bearing so you didn't hear it as much. It was still a bad bearing.
