Probably time to upgrade hull armour too. And new optics never hurt either

@mrturner4620 Leopard 2 are outdated in a lot of ways too. It makes no sense to buy a vehicle that itself needs an upgrade package to counter the latest Russian tech, because your current tanks need an upgrade package. It makes no sense whatsoever. All the Chally 2 has over the Leopard at the moment is armour. With an upgrade package it can get a decent power package for that much needed mobility boost, it can get decent optics, it can get a new 120-130mm smoothbore and an armour package that further buffs its already decent protection (probably needed for the hull). And you know what? It'd be better than the Leopard 2 after this upgrade. Possibly even better than a Leopard 2 with future upgrades to boot. The Chally 2 is a great platform, but neglected. This thing was around since before the 2A5 and barely changed since due to neglect. With upgrades the difference can be as massive as between the 2A4 and 2A7+. And then the Chally 2 would suddenly be one of the absolute best tanks in the world. The platform is capable of this.

The M1 Abrams is literally British armour with a German gun... I don't see much American in it

It's useless against any military with AA capabilities, so its uses don't extend much further than anti-terror missions. But since that is what the US has mainly been doing anyway, it's great at its job regardless of its limited capabilities.

No, the Leopard 2 is over a decade older. But Leopard received a lot of upgrades whereas the Challenger 2 was neglected.

I don't even get why. The Chally 2 is a perfectly fine platform for further upgrades. It still has better armour than the Leopard 2, it just needs upgrades to catch up in other areas and/or buff its armour even more. Wouldn't retraining the crew and repurchasing all spare parts for a completely new tank (that is not even better than a possible modernised Chally 2) be costly in itself? And all that for a tank that could use an upgrade package itself, to counter the newest Russian tech (talking about the Leo here)? It just doesn't make any sense. Upgrading the Chally seems like the obvious choice here.
