  2. Technically open marriages are in line with evolution, now that women can control their fertility. There is no more risk of the husband ending up supporting the gene passing of another man. On the other hand, it does create an extra risk of either spouse falling in love with someone else and breaking the marriage apart. But strictly speaking.... birth control made this a semi-viable possibility
