  2.  @mycelia_ow  It's true... here in the Netherlands our resident "far right" political party essentially is a bit more leftist than Obama. American politics are extreme by our standards and even the most right wing parties agree on gay rights, universal healthcare, basic social security and more. The main political debate is not about "social security yes or no?" but "how much social security?". But the absolute minimum of social security that every party stands for is a proper safety net for all and decent healthcare for all. How much coverage your healthcare has, how much wealth distribution there will be and such questions are subject to discussion. It's crazy that the question WHETHER to have universal healthcare and other basic social security is a thing in the US to begin with.
