  1. The problem is adeptly portrayed here, but the underlying reasons? I don't think anybody seriously thinks that we taint every idea and ruin it or that we are to blame for every bit of poverty on the planet and must therefore take in everybody.

  2. The European renaissance was a rebirth of Europe's pre-Christian Pagan culture and society. It brought the pre-Christian way of thinking of the Greek philosophers and more back. In order for a renaissance to be possible for Islamists, they have to have such a pre-Islamic culture that is worth reviving.
