  1. Actually, calling Ukraine and EU well interconnected in context of high volume goods exports is incorrect. The best overland solution for such kinds of exports, especially over long distances, are trains. Most of Europe runs their rail at 1435 mm standard gauge, but entirety (well, except a line from Slovak and Hungarian border to border station Čop, another line to Užgorod, lines connecting to Romania and mixed gauge line to Mukačevo) of Ukrainian railway infrastructure is 1520 mm broad gauge. Meaning you have to transfer cargo between gauges at either Čop or Čierna nad Tisou (track leading to Michalovce steel plant, that's 1520 mm). You can't beat ocean blue, when it comes to efficiency of transport of such goods
