Yeah, I've been told, that priests in Romania can get political in their sermons... My grandpa was Romanian and once told me, that dad had problem in school, because he told the teacher, that in 1968 Czechoslovakia was invaded by the Warsaw pact (which in itself was huuuuge nono at the time) and that he had learned it from a priest's sermon... that took place in Cugir.
Another tradition I've been told about, was gift giving. One person is selected and begins to gather wedding gifts for the happy couple and he goes in order of value of the gift. Which can get awkward at times. For instance, at one wedding my dad decided to add to his initial gift 50 West German Marks and he was like tenth in the line. Worst of all, he didn't know about the exchange rate and so, some fifty people after him had to go home for a moment to bring extra gifts valued about two monthly salaries at the time. Yeah... dad was not welcome in Romania for over a year afterwards... where he'd repeat the stunt with a TV, though this time, everyone was expecting it.
Edit: The two weddings my dad attended took three days of this each
