Yeah, I'd say, that there is only one real reason, to make missile tanks, as we've seen them in some works of fiction. That being logistics. You build a single base and create then create assemblies, that you put in, that include turrets, fixed mounted howitzers, missile batteries... Idea being, that any all these different use vehicles have the same underlying chassis, meaning if one breaks down, you only need to teach your people on the motor side of things, how to repair that one type of chassis and order the same parts. Question is, whether this logistical advantage would prove sufficient to justify such approach.
