  1.  @massimookissed1023  Yeah, problem is, hydrogen has two... problematic characteristics, hence why it's not typically used as fuel. 1) it's ridiculously flamable and unstable. I'm talking Hyndenburg levels of flamable. You need to maintain very specific conditions not to end up barbeque and those are hard to maintain. 2) It's ridiculously corrossive, meaning whatever tanks you make, eventually, it will start to leak and same holds true for normal gass transporting pipes. You need special stuff for Hydrogen. Hence, in order to do it safely, you can only mix it with other gasses to burn, to transport it safely. It's better to think about hydrogen like about NOS for cars. You don't run your car on NOS alone, but when you need the boost, you punch it.

This is actually the better use than computers, but even better would be combination of Hydrogen tank tied to it and hydrogen eingine coupled to a power generator with the idea being, that the hydrogen tank would work as a buffer for additional power generation, while energy is expensive enough. But banking on intermittent computation is just plain stupid, because this way, you only moving the excesses to another field, that it self is either 24/7 or on demand by external clients, who them selves are not guaranteed to sync with your local weather, be it solar or wind!

  3. I actually think this could still work in Europe. The thing is, there are limits to what you can and cannot do in terms of transport. I have seen beef from South America and cangaroo meat from Australia. I have never seen anything green from beyond the continent. Romanian tomatoes? Absolutely. Spanish salads? Of course, but I have never seen anything green from South America or Asia and Africa has problem feeding itself right now. I think vertical farming was incorrectly applied. For me, key concern had been the land use issue. If a farm were to invest into a reasonably large vertical growing space, they could shift the use of the land to other production and thus diversify. The world is having problem with insect populations dying out and one of the problems there is, that fields have become more homogenous and larger to accomodate larger more productive equipment. This opens up an option to compensate the farmer the cost difference as long as he/she actually moves that production and uses the freed land better the environment, for instance by creating a meadow in place of a growing field. The question is, how much do we as a society value the environment? Because this would have actual calculable costs to it. Would have been a lot tougher sell than electric cars or pushing people into buses...
