AnAngryGiant20 I don't know, whether you saw that shirt, but it has all these calibers listed and below it one short sentence. "All faster than dialing 911.". The problem is, that this slogan is correct. The system can't be everywhere, even in a police state. At any moment, there are only two parties to an incident guranteeed to be present at all times. Victim and the felon. The victim must have the ability to effectively defend them selves, otherwise... you know. People need to have guns beforehand, to that point, you're right, but simply acquiring a gun or seeking to must not make one a "suspect" from people who seek to own a gun. Background checks and investigations go against this principle and don't actually help. If you look at numbers of deaths by gun in years, you'll find two things. One, that these incidents have been falling since the sixties till Trump took over, and two, that there are bumps in the trend, which correspond with national GDP... You wanna solve gun violence? Then solve violence, remove the need for being violent and you'll reap safety dividends. You can begin with higher wage, easier to find jobs and less demanding romantic partners. Loneliness is a major contributor to depression, which drives violent behavior. Stress is the other factor you need to tackle.
