No. It's not. They'll eventually just rebrand and this whole shit starts over again. You guys need to legislate, what it means to sell, what it means to lease and that sell option be mandatory to be provided.

For system integration in a smart home. Back in a day, in Czechia, there were different rates for day and night electricity, so to save money on power, we'd run our washing machine (most energy hungry thing in the home) just past seven o'clock, when night rates started. With this you could simply load the washing machine/dishwasher/anything, have it tied to a central control unit, which could activate the device... Too bad, the Internet got abused like this.

@RicardoSantos-oz3uj Not really. Timer can do some things, but you need timer of certain precision. A smarthome brain will have to the minute timer anyway shared for other appliances as well as itself. And if you need to hit particular hour, you're screwed. I lived for a long time in a commie block. Yes, you heard your neighbors do the dishes, let alone laundry. Our current washing machine takes 2 hours 45 minutes for a full cycle and doesn't really wash that well otherwise. Say evening power billing started at 7pm and night calm time begins at 10, I'd have a fifteen minute window to hit. Timer on my washing machine only allows me to put in twenty minute intervals and caps at two hours. Integrating that washing machine into a more advanced setup would have helped me evade fines for disturbing the peace.

Yeah, problem is, there is always something. Hell, you could even argue that the update itself is something provided to you. Remember, consideration means even a grain of rice would be considered as consideration in a deal, where it bought a car.
