  1. I'm not really sure, if this is feasible. I mean, you never could replace a faulty cell even in an old laptop battery. So what I'd do in Tesla's place, is, I'd still be adamant about replacing the battery as a whole, but offered a buyback of the old battery, so that it can be disassembled and OK components reused in refurbished batteries at a lower price. (not everybody will want a completely new battery). The added benefit would have been, that the car could be turned around faster, cause, you know, don't need to wait for component level repair, just take out the battery and put in an on hand new or a refurbished one.
